19 May One client, one story: Eclecta Editorial & Agpograf
At a time when the publishing industry is caught between speed and volume, projects are emerging that advocate for a different way of doing things. This is the case of Editorial Eclecta, an independent publishing house born between Lleida and Barcelona with a clear idea: publish less, but better.
Eclecta was founded in 2025 by booksellers Jordi and Ramon Souto, with the aim of publishing in both Catalan and Spanish and with a criterion that allows no compromises: literary quality and ambition in its proposals. This declaration of intent is not merely rhetorical. Its initial catalogue combines contemporary authors with classics and essays, and champions singular voices, far removed from the noise of trends.
Eclecta —from the Greek adjective ἐκλεκτά— means chosen things. A name built on the ancient root LEK, which expresses the ideas of gathering, collecting, extracting, uniting. It is the action behind words such as choose, select, collection, harvest or intelligence. And it is the profound idea that inhabits the heart of the words logos and read.
But if there is one element that defines Eclecta, it is its way of understanding the book as an object. In an ecosystem where rapid turnover often prevails, Eclecta stands for carefully crafted editions, thoughtfully worked texts and a respectful relationship with the reader. As has been pointed out in cultural circles, “a good book should not impose itself by shouting louder, but through its singularity”.
It is at this point that their vision naturally connects with ours.
At Agpograf Impressors, we share this perspective: printing is not a mere procedure, it is part of the final result. The choice of paper, colour control, attention to finishing details… these are decisions that affect not only aesthetics, but also the reading experience and the perception of the book.
With Eclecta, this level of commitment is evident from the very beginning. We speak the same language: the language of craftsmanship. A craft that combines technology with judgement and sensitivity. Because, ultimately, printing books remains a work of precision, but also of respect for the content.
There is also another important coincidence: territorial roots. Eclecta is a project that grows from Catalonia with an open vocation, capable of connecting authors from here and abroad. This combination of proximity and global ambition is also part of our DNA.
In a sector where everything tends towards acceleration, partnerships like this reclaim the value of time, detail and things done well. Because editing and printing books —when done properly— remains a way of building culture.
When Eclecta began working with us and placed their trust in us, I took advantage of the privilege of being their printers to read their literary nouveautés in advance.
And what a privilege! They introduce us to authors and works that surprise us and offer us very different literary experiences.
Under the Skin, a Tree is a very special book, with all the ingredients that make it addictive, yet rooted in a story that is our own story. Everything about this work captivates us: the different narrative styles, the intrigue, the personal stories, the way it explains the events of an era we must not forget.
What new literary gift will Eclecta offer us next?
